Each floor had a nice sized observation desks with plenty of seating. We ended up sitting in the chairs, watching the scenery, relaxing and talking for the remainder of the trip.

Experience spectacular views of downtown Louisville and explore the area’s rich history as your group cruises the Ohio River for lunch or dinner. Our cruise was on The Spirit of Jefferson, and while smaller than The Belle of Louisville, it was charming, very clean and perfect for our trip. While aboard we enjoyed a delicious lunch, explored the ship and scenery as we passed by the city, under bridges and by historic landmarks. Passengers are encouraged to explore history, the arts and cultural heritage in a way that represents diverse stories and honest experiences. The Belle’s Ballroom Deck is home to many activities, including live music, dancing and dining—in addition to the Concession Stand, Bar and onboard Gift Shop. This deck has seen many changes since the vessel was originally built, including expanding the dance floor and enclosing the outside portion of the deck.

All tickets for the cruises can be purchased here. The Belle of Louisville and Mary M. Miller riverboats are docked at the Fourth Street Wharf in Waterfront Park. Parking is near by in the Blue Wharf Parking Lot. The 2023 cruising season is underway, and the Belle of Louisville is offering four family-friendly cruises from March 31 to April 8. As we boarded the boat, we were warmly greeted and led to the table where we would be enjoying lunch.
Once we were finished with our meal, we decided to explore the ship. The first floor dinning area had music and a dance floor, and on the top floor you could see into the captains room and watch him steer the ship. The food was delicious and included a wide variety of options to choose from. A few minutes after our departure, we were invited to go to through the lunch buffet. The set up was extremely organized and we were able to easily get food for our family.

Food and drinks are available for purchase at our concession stand and bar. You can find the menu for each boat here. The Pilot House is the most original area onboard the historic steamer and features both original and modern-day equipment to help our Pilots navigate the river. Some of the key features of this area include the telegraph, power steering system and the original wheel. The river is an integral part of Louisville’s history. During your cruise, you’ll see landmarks highlighting key points in the city’s 200+ years of history.

Take your pre-selected boxed lunch anywhere on the boat and find your favorite seat. Tickets are $36.99 for adults ages 15-64, $34.99 for seniors 65+, $23.99 children ages 5-14, and FREE for children under 4. Cruises will be cancelled if the National Weather Service predicts sustained winds 25 mph or more or gusts of over 30 mph. Coast Guard issues a storm/lightning alert, the cruise will be cancelled. Each boat also has covered decks and enclosed areas.
This educational cruise will be on the Mary M. Miller, and lasts about one hour. Tickets are just $10 for adults, $7 for seniors 65 and older, and $7 for children five to 14. Free Adventure Passports will also be available for kids.
If a cruise is cancelled, we will send out an email, phone call, or text to notify guests with tickets. The Belle of Louisville and Mary M. Miller bring our city’s rich history to life and provide a hands-on experience for students to engage with the past. Our Education Coordinator will work with you to create an interactive learning experience that aligns with your curriculum.
